Algebra II With Trigonometry

Course Description- Algebra II with Trigonometry is a course that extends the content of Algebra I and provides further development of the concept of a function.  Topics include: (1) relations, functions, equations and inequalities; (2) conic sections; (3) polynomials; (4) algebraic fractions; (5) logarithmic and exponential functions; (6) sequences and series; and (7) counting principles and probability.  As well as the study of (1) trigonometry in triangles, (2) trigonometric functions, and(3) trigonometric identities and equations.

Grading Scale

 


A                     (100% - 90%)

B                      (89% - 80%)

C                      (79% - 70%)

D                     (69% - 60%)

F                      below 60%


           

Grading Categories -  Grades will be given at the end of each grading period. A straight point grading system will be used.  Points will be assigned from three major categories.

 

1.     Tests – Tests will count 100 points each.  We will generally have a test at the end of each chapter, but longer chapters may have two.

 

2.     Quizzes– Quizzes will count 25 points each.  We will try to have a number of quizzes throughout the year.  Quizzes will be used to determine classroom pacing and identify chapter weaknesses.  

 

3.     Homework- Homework sheets will be posted to the website at the beginning of each chapter.  Students will be expected to keep up on assignments on their own pace.  Assignments will be collected the next class period and will be graded on completeness. Each HW section will count for 5 point.

 

Mid-Term / Final – The final will count as 20% of your overall semester grade. The final will be comprehensive for each semester.
