Mrs. Erin Atkinson has taught at Signature School since 2004, when she started her classroom experience on part-time basis with a publications course. In 2006, she began teaching English 9H and coaching the Speech Team; she accepted Yearbook responsibilites for the 2008-09 school year.

Before teaching, Mrs. Atkinson worked in various newsrooms; she spent six years editing and reporting at newspapers in Lancaster, Ohio; Owensboro, Ky.; and finally at the Courier & Press. Mrs. Atkinson grew up outside Columbus, Ohio, and came to Evansville in 2002. She earned a bachelor's degree in magazine journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and has taken several English courses at the University of Southern Indiana. In 2007, she received her master's degree in teaching from Oakland City University.

Mrs. Atkinson likes to cook, exercise, read, watch television and movies, and spend time with her husband, Joe, who is director of news services for the University of Evansville and a volunteer coach with Evansville Youth Baseball.
