Dear Signature School Parents, Teachers and Students,
Being ranked the 7th best public high school in the nation by Newsweek magazine makes for the
beginning of an exciting academic year for Signature School! As president of the PTSA (a PTA with
Student involvement), I plan to use the momentum of this excitement to promote and implement our
PTSA’s goals:
1. Foster greater family engagement in Signature School and PTSA programs by increasing
communication and sustaining a diverse membership;
2. Conduct programs for parents, teachers and students encouraging family-school partnerships
that positively affect student achievement, health and well-being;
3. Build stronger ties between our Signature School family and the Evansville community.
When families, schools and communities work together, our children can succeed! Your membership
in Signature School’s PTSA, also includes membership in the National, State and Area Council PTA. With
this participation, many opportunities await our children and our Signature school family. For example:
* Signature’s PTSA is applying for a $1,000 grant from the National PTA to promote Healthy
Lifestyles, including good nutrition and increased physical activity.
* Our students have 3 opportunities for cash awards and scholarships through PTA:
1. The Reflections Arts Enhancement Program
2. The Indiana PTA Citizenship Essay Contest
3. Evansville Area Council PTA Scholarship
* Signature families undergoing financial hardship may use the Evansville Area Council Clothing
Bank. This may be arranged discreetly through our Signature School staff.
*To foster friendships, camaraderie and support, Signature’s PTSA is planning a “Signature
International Dinner” to celebrate our school’s diversity and global focus.
* Signature’s PTSA has been invited by GAGE (Growth Alliance for Greater Evansville), to
participate in their special downtown events and projects, forging a new and much-anticipated
school-community partnership!
* Membership provides you with discount cards to local/area businesses.
* Your family’s voice will be heard by the National PTA advocating in Washington, D.C., for public
policies that benefit the health and education of our children.
* Most importantly, membership in SIG’s PTSA will provide your family with opportunities for
resources, support and friendships that can help us all to raise healthy, happy, and well-
educated citizen.
I look forward to meeting and working with you to bring our Signature School family to a new level of
communication, collaboration and commitment. I’m excited about our potential! I hope you are, too!
