Sig Scholarships

by: Amanda Springer

We've all heard, experienced, and know that Signature School is a great school. Its combination of dedicated staff and students results every year in a group of college-ready seniors prepared to pursue their goals in life. Signature's recognition by the U.S. News and World Report also assures the Signature community that their hard work has not gone unnoticed by outsiders. However, some may wonder how a ranking of the eighty-sixth best school in the U.S. translates to success for Signature students, particularly when it comes to matters concerning college, such as scholarships.

Signature School certainly does not disappoint when it comes to how much their college-bound seniors receive in scholarships every year. When asked whether Signature School's large scholarship awards to seniors affected his decision to attend Signature School, Andy Weis, a senior, readily replied "Yes." Last year, the official amount of scholarships awarded to Signature's seniors totaled about 3.39 million dollars. And that's only for 51 kids. Although many students have not yet decided where to attend college and thus this year's scholarship total is not yet known, the unofficial number is currently 2.6 million dollars and growing. Although similar information regarding scholarship money awarded to EVSC students is not available, it is clear that Signature stands out in this category, with an average of approximately $51,000 in scholarships per student for this year- and that's only so far.

In other words, it pays to attend Signature School. Literally.
