Let’s face it, finding a date for prom is like the running of the bulls. You have to be quick and duck out of the running as soon as you can or else you are left in the race alone. But where is it even written that you have to have a date? No where! This is because you don’t always need a date for dances to have a good time. You could always just go with a group of friends.
Now, we know that this idea is strange and new, but it isn’t as crazy as it seems. The stress of asking someone and coordinating everything about your outfits is instantly gone. You no longer have to split the bill for the meal with someone. You are free to roam about the dance floor throughout the night without having to tell anyone where you are going. The night is just you and your closest friends making the night a blast.
Are those reasons not convincing enough? Well we have made a list of those reasons and narrated by us, the writers.
Reasons to NOT Have a Date for Prom
- You can save so much money. (You only have to pay for one person, and split the cost of pictures between the people in the picture.)
- You don’t have to coordinate with anyone. (Poop! Craig’s outfit still doesn’t match Becky’s dress after describing it for hours on the phone. Come on! It is aqua! How many shades of aqua can there be?)
- You can come and go from the dance floor as you please. (“OH NO! WHERE DID MY DATE GO? NOOOOOOO!” “Uhm. They just went to get a drink. Calm down.” Yeah, now you can avoid this whole situation.)
- You can dance with whoever you want. (If your date steps all over your feet throughout the first song, you are stuck with them… the whole night.)
- No awkward turtles. (If you didn’t really want to go to prom with that person, you are kind of stuck. Sorry, kid.)
One last word of warning, make sure you go with a group of people that you know will make the night a blast. "I am making sure that I am going with a group of friends I can have fun with. If you go with a lot of people that aren't fun, then they'll just sit around." said Nicole Davenport on the subject.
There are a lot of benefits to just going with a group of friends. However, we aren’t saying that if you have a date to just drop them and go alone because there is nothing wrong with going to prom with someone. What we are saying is that you shouldn’t feel bad if you aren’t taking a date. It will still be an amazing night for you to look back on later in life.
