Foolish Things Said and Done in Politics Lately

by: Nina Bragg

Heard any things said in politics lately that seem quite moronic? Well just watch CNN or the Today Show. Watch any news broadcasting station and find out some dim-witted things being said from candidates of both the republican and democratic parties.

One of these sayings was said by Michelle Obama. While campaigning in Madison, Wisconsin she said, "for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud of my country." Wow. I really do not get why that was said. Her husband is trying to run for president. That was not a smart thing to say. That really did not help the campaign. Sarah Burress commented saying, "I think it is a very powerful quote, but I'm not sure if it really helped the campaign."

Another statement was said by Bill Clinton. Clinton said that his wife has superior ideas and experience in and around public service and it makes her the better choice for the candidate. He also said that he is not against anybody. He said these things after he was supposed to stop making personal attacks on Obama. What he said seems very contradictive, which is not good in a political campaign.

There was a hole in John McCain's defense in response to accusations about a lobbyist. McCain did not recall if he had ever spoken to a lobbyist. From this statement you can assume that he is not sure if he had or had not spoken to the lobbyist. Peyton Russelburg comments saying, "McCain is just trying to get around the issue. He needs to stand up and tell the truth."

Something very interesting in politics happened this month. Eliot Spitzer, Govenor of New York, used a high-priced prostitution ring. He was so called "client 9." This sex scandal was ridiculous. Why would anyone being a prominent figure do something like that? What does that say about America and the people that live here? How embarrassing for not only him, but his family also.

To see more of these statements said in the media, simply watch a news channel, or you can go online to msnbc.com or cnn.com to get some news on both of the parties.
