Teacher Profiles
by Andy Weis
As Signature School begins, students learn that they have a few new teachers. These teachers are from different places, and different backgrounds, but are all new to Sig.
Mr. Greg Simms, who teaches math, is originally from Michigan. He went to the University of Michigan. In his free time, Mr. Simms, he does math problems. Freshman Kristen Bell, says that "He's laid back." Bell also likes how he "relates real-world situations to math." When he moved to Evansville, the biggest thing he had to get used to was the heat. When he was in Michigan he played Hockey.
Ms.Jenny Knight is from Plainfield, Indiana, which is near Indianapolis. She went to Hanover College, and teaches AP Literature and Publications here at Signature. Senior Erin Cheaney, says that she "appreciates energy and she is funny" and likes that "[Ms. Knight] is easy to talk to." Ms. Knight likes to read, watch movies, and exercise in her free time. Moving down to Evansville she was afraid because she did not know anyone. Ms. Knight has had her SCUBA diver certification since she was 12 year old.
Mrs. Penny Nejad is from Knox, Pennsylvania. She went to Edinboro State College and USI, and she teaches AP Government, and U.S. History. Freshman Alex Junge enjoys that "she goes about her job enthusiastically." She likes to garden, and likes politics. When she moved to Evansville she had to get used to the different mindset that people had down here. She married someone that is from Iran, and she is from a family of nine kids.
Much like the students of Signature School, these new teachers are from many different backgrounds and have many different talents. Look for them around the school and look forward to having them in class.
