Star Treatment
by: Kirsten Robards
From the DUI arrests, drugs, and alcohol to eighty minutes in jail, star treatments are not fair considering people in the "real world" are put in jail for drugs. Stars like Lindsay Lohan and Nicole Richie either do not get out in jail or they spend too little time in jail and receive special treatment.
Lindsay Lohan was put in "rehab" for having a DUI, but she left frequently to go tanning and to get beer even though she was in rehab for drinking and driving. Her "rehab" in Colorado is more like a resort. She did admit her life has become out of control and that she was addicted to drugs and alcohol, so shouldn't she be put somewhere with real help as opposed to a place where she can leave and go get beer and go tanning?
Nicole Richie was supposed to spend a twelve-hour sentence but was released within eighty-two minutes. Callie Schmidt a junior says, "Nicole Richie received too little of a punishment and it should have been a harsher punishment." Nicole Richie was charged with a DUI and she pleaded guilty but served not nearly enough time in jail to what people in the "real world" would spend if they had a DUI. According to the California laws, you could spend up to several years in state prison. Even though she did not serve enough time, she did agree to three-year probation. Will it follow through if she receives another DUI or if something happens?
