Presidential Election Profiles: Republican Candidates

In this year's election there are many names that haven't yet been matched with a face. We won't cover every candidate, but you can find information about three of the 12 Presidential candidates below.

His name is Mitt Romney. He was born on March 12, 1947; Belmont, Michigan. He announced candidacy for president of the United States on February 13, 2007 at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. Previous occupations include: President of the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee for the Olympics since Feb. 1999; Head of Boston's Bain Capital, a venture capital firm. He sits on the board of office supply giant Staples. In previous office positions, Romney lost a race for the US Senate in 1994, but gave powerhouse incumbent Edward Kennedy a scare early in the campaign. Before running for US Senate, he served as president of the 14 Mormon churches in the Boston area. He was valedictorian of his undergraduate class at Brigham Young University, then obtained dual business and law degrees from Harvard University. He has a wife, Ann; five sons (all of whom have graduated from or are enrolled at Brigham Young). His father is former Michigan governor, the late George Romney. An interesting fact for you avid republicans, Romney's ancestors were among the Mormon founders of Salt Lake City.

His religious beliefs consist of only Mormonism. What are his big issue(s)? He vetoed stem cell research bill, wants to reform sentencing process; he thinks it is too lenient, and that schools can teach family values, not religion or prayer.

Rudy Giuliani, born on May 28, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York. Married to Donna Hanover; two children, Andrew and Caroline. He announced Candidacy on February 15, 2007 while on CNN's Larry King Live.

What are the political issues he focuses on most?

Cutting Taxes, Winning the war on taxes, Iraq, Fiscal Discipline, Education, Abortion, Supporting Heterosexual Marriages

Fred Dalton Thompson was born on August 19,1942. He announced he was running for president on September 6, 2007. What are the political issues he focuses on most? Abortion, Economy, Prohibiting flag burning, the death penalty does deter murder.

As you can see, the three gentlemen are very fine and well qualified candidates. Each are set in their views and opinions for the 2007-2008 upcoming Election. As this November Comes around, just know that you only have one more year to make up your mind on who you would vote for. Choose wisely, your vote could be the one that decides the next President of The United States.
